POP! The sound that any athlete will dread hearing. The popping sound has become synonymous with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). Commonly injured in dynamic sporting activities during pivoting, cutting, or jumping maneuvers, the ACL has plagued the careers of many top professional athletes and hampered daily activities of recreationally active individuals.
Dave was recently interviewed about his work to improve ACL rehab using new technology developed by Delsys in Natick, MA.

New position as Assistant Professor of Sensorimotor Rehabilitation at Northeastern University!
Dave just accepted an assistant professor position at Northeastern University. He he will be appointed with the Bouve College of Health Sciences and the College of Engineering. He will get to continue his line of research into how the nervous system impacts muscle function after joint injury.

Dave presents at the University of Central Florida
Dave recently presented at the 4th Annual Institute of Exercise Physiology and Rehabilitation Science Conference in Orlando, FL. He was invited by the conference to speak about the scientific background and clinical considerations for treating muscle inhibition after knee joint injury. A recording of the talk is available now!

Sports Physical Therapy Podcast
Dave was a guest on Mike Reinold’s Sport Physical Therapy Podcast in February 2024. Mike is the President of the American Academic of Sports Physical Therapy and focuses his time on clinician education and science translation. Dave spoke about his research on arthrogenic muscle inhibition, a neural reflex that limits muscle function after joint injury.

Dave recently moderated a panel of experts in Anterior Cruciate Ligament / ACL Injury for ACL Study Day. Experts in the field of sports rehabilitation and physical therapy discussed the latest evidence and shared strategies for strengthening the quadriceps muscle in knee injury recovery.

Sport-Related Concussion Education
In collaboration with Evolution Ed presented by Clinic to Field, Sarah and colleague Chelsea Ortega presented a 2-day concussion management course. The audience included civilian and active duty PTs, ATCs, PAs, and Medics from all military branches and several units.

Women In Sports Panel
Sarah and Live4PT were featured in the 2023 APTA Women-In-Sports Session. Go Sarah! She shared the screen and stage with many other female physical therapists in collegiate, and professional sports. Live4PT is very proud to be a women-owned and operated small business!

Dave's New Research Position
In addition to his role at Live4, Dave recently joined Boston University and Harvard University as a postdoctoral researcher. He is working on the future of physical therapy interventions. Don’t worry though, he will still play a significant role at Live4!

2022 APTA Combined Sections Meeting
Dave & Sarah both presented at the 2022 American Physical Therapy Association Combined Sections Meeting - physical therapy’s national conference. They shared their research on ACL injury and rehabilitation, quadriceps muscle weakness, and psychologically informed patient care practices.
